about the girl
She’s just a girl living half way there. She has traveled her road carelessly, wandering repeatedly. Sometimes she would stop along an unfamiliar path, sensing that she should turn around. Often though she would hastily run into the wilderness, naive to the obstacles within it. She has no map, so she is uncertain how far she has journeyed. There have been tests, but no answers. There have been challenges, so she built walls. She has been scared, so she hid.
She’s just a girl who wants to breathe. Her hope is cast over what she cannot see, but now trusts. On her walk, she has laughed. Not all moments have brought tears; there have been smiles, and so much joy. Her heart is weathered but is not timid to love. She gives without scrutiny, yet braces herself for hurt.
She’s just a girl with growing pains. She has learned strength through self-inflicted criticism. She acquired brave in a scattered moment when her toes tipped the edge of her cliff. She discovered peace within her art, giving way to a secret outlet of self expression. She unearthed wounds when she guarded her creativity, fearful to disappoint. Joy and courage found her when she opened her life and gave her art away. She saw clearly using her paintbrush and pen as her compass; when clarity entered, joy and courage celebrated.
She has been inspired to share another small piece of her art, having faith that her random thoughts will connect to another. She is mindful of her journey and the unforeseen road ahead. She remembers her “brave”, and she knows she has a long way to travel. She secretly hopes, however, that she is only half way there.
SHADED DESIGN is a story. The company became in 2014, truly embracing its identity in 2018. Lesley, the artist, is a painter and a writer; SHADED DESIGN is an expression of her passion.
Lesley paints her Original Art using acrylic on canvas. She writes her unique Greeting Card line using a collection of simple words compiled to express a lifetime of wandering.

Lesley Casner resides in Charlotte, North Carolina. She spent her childhood in Naples, Florida; moving to North Carolina in 1987 to attend college at Western Carolina University, earning her Bachelors Degree in Corporate Finance. Grateful for her business foundation and her natural knack for mathematics, something was still missing. She unexpectedly fell head over heels into design, art, and writing…her true love. Creativity equals joy, and within the blank canvas of border-less possibilities is where she finds her smile. She is a health food advocate, believing in lifestyle changes…not diets. She enjoys yoga, running, and most exercise that challenges her mentally and physically. She is a Virgo through and through. She believes in the power of prayer, and that her journey would be much different had she not let go and let God lead. She is thankful every day.
